On Saturday 26 September, people across the UK will have the opportunity to support families with children in hospital as our founding and forever partner, McDonald’s, launches the first-ever UK McHappy Day, with an ambitious goal of raising £1.5 million for Ronald McDonald House UK.

The nationwide fundraising day will bring together customers, McDonald’s Franchisees, suppliers and supporters from across the country, all united by one goal: helping families stay together during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Every year, thousands of families rely on our Houses when their child is receiving treatment in hospital. Located just moments from children’s wards, our 14 Houses provide free accommodation, practical support and a comforting place to call home, allowing families to focus on what matters most: being together.

Last year alone, we supported 8,488 families across the UK, helping them stay close to their seriously ill children during treatment.

Thank you to everyone making McHappy Day possible

We are incredibly grateful to McDonald’s UK and Ireland, its Franchisees, customers and supply partners for their support of this landmark fundraising event. Together, they are helping us continue to provide free accommodation and support to families when they need it most.

Our CEO, Ella Joseph, said:

“Every day, we meet families whose lives are turned upside down when their child needs treatment far from home. Thanks to the incredible support of McDonald’s, its Franchisees, suppliers and customers, McHappy Day will help ensure we can continue to be there for families when they need us most.

“We’re tremendously grateful to everyone involved. Every donation, every contribution and every act of support will help families stay close to their child during what can be one of the most difficult times in their lives.”

An industry-wide effort

McHappy Day is also being supported by many of McDonald’s long-standing supply partners, including Arla Foods, Tropicana®, McCain Foods, Coca-Cola®, Cargill, Schreiber Foods, Lamb Weston and many others, who are contributing towards the £1.5 million fundraising target.

Their generosity, alongside the support of customers and Franchisees, demonstrates the incredible impact that can be achieved when businesses and communities come together for families. To find out more about the suppliers supporting the day, visit

Now, with the launch of the UK’s first McHappy Day®, we’re asking our supporters to help make history once again.

Whether you buy a beanie, make a donation, visit your local restaurant or simply help spread the word, you’ll be helping families stay together and close to their child when they need each other most.
