How We Use Your Donation

As an independent charity, we rely on the support and generosity of our volunteers, fundraisers and donors to keep thousands of families close to their sick children in hospital each year.

How we support families

When a child is seriously ill or injured and needs urgent or specialist medical care, a family’s world can change overnight. Treatment children need is often far from home. Families can be separated, routines are disrupted, and parents and carers can feel exhausted, worried and overwhelmed.

Families need somewhere close to the hospital where they can rest, eat, wash, and recharge – so they can keep going, day after day. What starts as an emergency trip can turn into weeks or even months away from home, while their child receives the medical treatment they need.

During this time, families and carers can be under intense emotional strain. Alongside that, families often face practical pressures, including the cost of travel, food, accommodation and time away from work. At the moment when families need the stability and familiarity of home the most, it is taken away.

That’s where Ronald McDonald House UK steps in.

How we use your donation

We provide free accommodation, moments from children’s wards in our partner NHS hospitals. Our Houses are intentionally located within walking distance of hospital wards. This means families are never far from their child’s bedside and can return quickly when needed, without the stress of long, unpredictable and potentially expensive journeys.

Each family staying overnight has their own private ensuite room, helping them keep a sense of independence and control.

Your continued support means we can support families in our Houses across the country at their times of need. Watch the video below to meet some of the families whose lives have been affected by you donations.
