Helping families stay close when it matters most

On 26 September, McDonald’s customers, crew, franchisees and suppliers will come together for the UK’s first-ever McHappy Day, raising vital funds for Ronald McDonald House UK. As our founding and forever partner, we are incredibly grateful to McDonald’s for its continued commitment and support in helping families stay close to their children in hospital.

On the day, £1 from every selected main meal sold will be donated to Ronald McDonald House UK. Thanks to the generosity of McDonald’s suppliers, additional donations will also be unlocked through the purchase of some of your favourite menu items.

Meet Fatima and her family

When Fatima was born at just 23 weeks and 3 days, her parents’ world changed overnight. What followed was a long and challenging journey through multiple hospitals as Fatima received specialist care for complex medical needs.

When she was transferred to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for specialist treatment, Fatima’s family faced an additional challenge. Living in Crawley, the daily journey to and from hospital would have been exhausting, expensive and emotionally overwhelming at a time when every moment mattered.

That’s when Ronald McDonald House Tooting provided something the family desperately needed: a safe place to stay just moments from Fatima’s hospital bedside. Instead of worrying about long journeys, travel costs or missing a call from the hospital, they could focus on what mattered most: supporting their daughter’s recovery. Surrounded by other families facing similar challenges, they found understanding, kindness and a sense of community when they needed it most.

“Without a safe and welcoming place to stay, our situation would have been filled with additional fear, stress and isolation. We honestly don’t know how we would have managed these months without the comfort and support the House provided.”
